Meaning = Emotion = Life

Words. What about words?

Words influence EmotionEmotion influences our Life

“meaning = emotion = life.” – my bf

When it comes to the words we use in our lives we want to choose them wisely. Choosing words that influence us to live a positive life full of gratitude starts right here with you. Yes…YOU.

For the next ten days I want us to practice how we use our words, and see how good we feel when aware of the words we’re using.

With that being said, what words do you use to describe yourself?

If you are anything like I used to be you would say that you’re; ugly – unwanted – not smart enough – not skinny enough – can’t give enough love to make anyone happy – never enough. If this is you…I’m here to tell you to STOP. Stop using these words to describe yourself, and start using words like; beautiful – smart – courageous – kind – flawed perfectly – love.

Ugly – unwanted – not smart enough – not skinny enough – can’t give enough love to make anyone happy – never enough: are words that will lead us to negative emotions which will ultimately lead us to live a negative life.

Where as…

Beautiful – smart – courageous – kind – flawed perfectly – love: are words that will lead us to feel more positive emotions and will allow us to live a more positive – happier life.

So like I said, I want us to spend the next ten days practicing how we can better use our words.

For the next ten days I want you to make a list of words that describe you. If the words you are choosing to describe you fall into the negative category – that’s ok! This is where this practice comes in to play. Next to those negative words I want you to write down aspects of your life that are positive in relation to the negative words you chose. This, in time, will influence your choice of words to be more positive tomorrow – the next day – and the day after that. For example:

  • Ugly
    • Let’s start off by looking the mirror and telling yourself over and over again that you’re beautiful. “I AM BEAUTIFUL!” – write this three times next to this word.
    • Ask your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, friend, or whoever you have that is close to you, what do you see when you look at me? You will be so surprised by the response you get from them. 10 times out of 10 the way we see ourselves does not compare to the way others see us. Take their response and write this down next to this word.

The words we choose to use about ourselves will influence our emotions to be negative or positive. Saying that you are “ugly” will push you to feel emotions such as sad, depressed and angry which will eventually lead you to live an ugly – negative life. Where as saying that you are “beautiful” pushes you towards emotions like happy, joyous, and excited which will lead you to live a positive – happy life.

If we can not allow ourselves to live a positive & happy life – which will lead us to live a life full of gratitude – we can not help others to do the same. Afterall, aren’t we all here to build each other up, to influence each and every person we meet in a positive way?

You are beautifulYou are the lightYou are energy richYou are love
