Hey there – happy Wednesday! How are you today!?
Last week’s gratitude post kicked off our practice of learning to become self-aware. Building off of that post, today we are going to talk about daily writing/journaling. The goal of journaling daily is to get your thoughts out of your head and down onto paper. This is a habit we want to build as it allows us to connect with our subconscious mind.
Now there is no right or wrong way to journal and get these thoughts down. You can just write whatever pops into your head – or you can structure your writing with a set of self-reflecting questions.
- What skill(s) did I learn today?
- Did I create any form of work today that is creative and will have an impact? If so, what?
- Did I have the opportunity to meet someone new today? Tell me all about them.
- What is something that I learned about myself today? Explore this in detail.
Doing this each day – every week – allows for us to look back on our thoughts & feelings. Thus giving us the opportunity to notice any patterns and trends that we may overlook in our conscious mind.
Notice any patterns of emotion throughout the week? What can we do to keep these emotions high? What can we do to correct these emotions? Take note as to whether or not your emotions tend to run more negative or positive. Write down your plan of action to turn negative emotion around. Implement that plan.
With this practice it is our goal to become aware of our thought patterns throughout each week – and to ultimately work to correct them should it be needed. This awareness is key to really kicking off your practice and moving forward on your journey to becoming fully self-aware.
