Growing up we were always told “Treat others the way you want to be treated.” Although this was being preached to us left and right, did you ever notice that those who were doing the preaching weren’t actually practicing?
This often happens with a lot of things in life. We don’t practice what we preach. Why is this?
The answer to that question is habits. Bad habits. The ones that most people say are “too hard” to break.
The only thing is – if we don’t work to break these habits now, how are we going to set the path for future generations? Boom – mind blown.
Bad habits are meant to be broken one habit at a time. So why not start with something as simple as treating others the way we want to be treated? We already know how we’d like to be treated – so we’re already halfway there!
One Step At A Time
The best way to break bad habits is to start small. Start with a simple hello or a smile. The more we’re friendly to others, the friendlier they’ll be to us.
Smile and say hello to a stranger walking by. Hold the door for the person behind you. Be kind. That’s all it takes.
If you want to be treated with kindness and respect – treat others with kindness and respect. Doing so will cause a trickle effect to others and you’ll show future generations what it’s actually like to “treat others the way you want to be treated.”
